Banpeiyu
Banpeiyu is popular not just for its size, but also its refreshing acidity and sweetness that leave a nice aftertaste. A replica of the jumbo Banpeiyu that received a Guinness World Record is in the city hall.
Tofu Pickled in Miso
A dish prized in the mountainous area of Gokanosho from olden times. Also known as "Mountain Cheese", it was loved by the Heike refugees and goes well with sake or a meal.
Ayuya Sandai Bento Box
Received the #1 spot in Kyushu's Station Lunchbox Ranking three years in a row. A lunchbox of seasoned rice cooked with stock from cooked fish, then topped with a sweetened and boiled fish.
Koda-Yaki
It flourished as the Hosokawa domain's kiln. The traditional patterns of that era are still used. Using Hinagu's China clay and agar pottery stone, delicate patterns are drawn with inlay methods.
