This is the Yatsushiro-ruling Matsui clan's family temple. It is also a temple directly affiliated with Nanzen-ji Zen Temple.
Bullet holes are found all throughout the premises, given the fact that the location became the battle ground during the Satsuma Rebellion in 1877.
As of late, the temple is known for its stone monument.
